Covid at UWEC on a mask.

Title

Covid at UWEC on a mask.

Description

In a world where wearing a mask is the norm, I knew using this mask had a deeper meaning in it, knowing that this little piece of paper and plastics was the difference in getting into a restaurant or being denied access into the building, the difference between getting judged by pro-mask if you weren’t wearing one or for wearing one by an anti-mask group. This piece that wraps around your ears is probably going to be the biggest symbol for years to come for this virus. With all this being said the things I put on this mask also have an important meaning behind life at UWEC in 2020. The main point being in the middle is the shield you see in every building you walk into, the symbol that seems to be everywhere, reminding you to keep a safe distance of 6 feet from people. The “Flight Plan” being put into place to make sure everyone can have a safe learning experience at Eau Claire. To the right of the shield is the sign pointing to free Antigen Testing sites in order to see if you have the virus or not. Being required to get tested every two weeks, I felt this played a big role in people having to quarantine for two weeks because they contracted the disease, or just someone wanting to make sure they’re safe before seeing their grandparents when they go back home for the weekend. To the left of the shield is Blu the Blugold wearing a mask. When a mascot with no mouth it breathes out is wearing a mask you know the situation here is serious. Blu represents all the students here that need to wear a mask during their classes, getting food from the cafe, or wanting to use the restroom in their dorm. The bottom of the mask simply says 2020 at UWEC. with the zeros in 2020 being the Covid-19 virus. I wanted to use this first part of the assignment to document what life is like at college in 2020.
