Coping Through Art

Coverage

Description

This painting is focused on everyday coping. It isn’t a direct reflection of grief; one would have to think to unpack the layers of this paintings meaning. Many people took to the outdoors for solace, it allowed them to connect with life and something peaceful. On the surface it also shares and importance lesson on how people dealt with a pandemic, how they spent their time when they couldn’t leave the house. It shows the best side of people while also communicating that this was not what people planned to be doing, you can see that in the novice level of this painting. People visiting an exhibit where this is displayed would not be focused on the (incredible) skill displayed, they will focus on how people spent their time and how they found a way to grow and improve, even from their living rooms.
