Coach

After graduating from the University of Chicago, Zorn accepted a teaching position at Hedding College in Abingdon, Illinois. His time at Hedding was brief, after the college shut down in 1924 Zorn accepted a position coaching football at Waite High School in Ohio. While at Waite High School, he led teams to back to back state high school football championships. In 1928, thanks in part to connections from Alonzo Stagg, Zorn arrived in Eau Claire as the new football and basketball coach.

Bill Zorn coached football at Eau Claire from 1928-1943, and basketball for an astonishing forty-years. During his years as the basketball coach Zorn amassed a record of 387-357. His teams won conference championships in 1938, 1939, 1955, and 1956, and went to the NAIA National Tournaments in 1939, 1945, 1946, 1951, and 1956. 

At the time of his retirement in the late 1960s, Bill Zorn had coached longer than almost anyone in the nation and was among the winningest coaches in basketball.
